Our Commitment to Stewardship and Accountabilty
Lifewater is committed to good stewardship. It is one of our organization’s core values, and we strive to work with excellence, transparency, and accountability in everything we do. We recognize that our resources are entrusted to us to benefit the poor, and we work to use them wisely to bring about sustainable solutions to the global water crisis.
Central to Lifewater’s commitment to stewardship is the goal of minimizing management and fundraising expenses so that gifts can go directly toward programs. During the fiscal year 2008-2009, this resulted in nearly 89 percent of all funds going directly to programs.
Lifewater has a four-star rating on Charity Navigator, America's largest and most-utilized independent evaluator of charities. Lifewater is also a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA), adhering to its Standards of Responsible Stewardship, including independent financial audits each year. Also, Lifewater’s membership in the Millennium Water Alliance (MWA) leads to participation in audits conducted with our in-country partner organizations. Furthermore, we strive to mentor our in-country partner organizations in sound financial practices and accounting, setting them up for sustainable success.

Lifewater International is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest amount allowable by law. Our Federal Tax ID Number is 95-3987142.
