New Curricula
Field Tested in Ethiopia and Mozambique
In
the month of November, Lifewater volunteers and staff
began working with manuals in Transformational Community
Development (TCD) and Hand Pump Repair to train national
partners in Ethiopia and Mozambique. Partners report
successful implementation of training sessions and
continue to work on translating the manuals.

Communities Learn New Skills for Improved Health
In
places like southern Mozambique, broken hand pumps
litter the landscape. “The well and
pump have to be seen as something of value before
the village will take ownership,” claims
Lifewater volunteer Dwayne Lee. Lee’s team
reports their observations from a recent pump repair
training trip.
Violence in Kenya Stalls Development Work
The recent violence in Kenya continues to affect Lifewater’s partners. Following the recent election, in which the President was re-elected under dubious circumstances, opposition supporters began violent protests. Those in the Rift Valley and western districts, including Kisumu, have been worst affected.
Informal roadblocks, set up by various groups, inhibit any travel around the western areas, even within towns. A 6pm-6am curfew in Kisumu further restricts movement. All of Lifewater’s partner organization staff members are unharmed and relatively safe, but they have been unable to work in villages and communities since the violence began. We are praying for their continued safety and that they would be peacemakers in their communities.
